Calibration Settings for Accurate Waggoner CCVT Tests

Waggoner recommends all users make a few adjustments to their device's displays to ensure the optimal testing settings.

Display HDR & Night Shift/Mode should be off on your device.  The calibration pop-up that appears when launching the application reminds administrators to disable Display HDR and Night Light before proceeding.

Before your first test

  1. Launch the Waggoner CCVT application. A Calibration pop-up will appear by default.
  2. On a Windows device, you need to disable:
    • Display HDR (set to Off/Disabled)
    • Night Light (set to Off/Disabled)
      • Apple devices disable True Tone and Night Shift
  3. (Windows users) Clicking on the buttons for HDR and Night Light in the pop up will open the appropriate settings menu on your device.
  4. (Apple Users) Clicking on Calibrate on the pop up will open your device Settings Menu. You will need to navigate to "Display & Brightness" and then
  5. Confirm display settings are properly calibrated, then select "Continue" or "Cancel" on the Test Administrator screen to begin the test.

What happens if display settings change during a test

  • If a settings alteration is detected during a session, the software will display: "A settings alteration has been detected during this session. Further alteration will cause this test to be null and void. Press OK to restart this section and complete the test."
    • Pressing OK restarts that section. The test taker may begin again.
  • If further adjustments are detected and the test completes, the Test Proctor receives a second notification: "Due to potential adjustment noticed in screen settings, it is possible this test is invalid. Do you want to proceed and accept or mark as invalid?"
    • If "Invalid" is selected, the final report will state: "This Test Is Null And Void. A User Initiated Change In Calibration was Detected During This Test."
    • If "Accept" is selected, the test result is saved normally.

Troubleshooting tips

  • Always confirm Display HDR and Night Light are disabled before starting the test. If the device settings are never altered you may choose to have the pop up not display at start up.
  • If the calibration pop-up appears, follow its instructions to verify settings before proceeding.
  • If the software warns about settings alteration during the test, follow the on-screen prompts to restart or to decide whether to accept or mark the test invalid.
  • This message might appear under the following scenarios:
    • Running the software on one device and using a second monitor/screen
    • Presenting the test via online meeting software
    • Using a device running Windows 10 or older
    • Using a device that does not have a graphics card or meet minimum specifications recommended
